Thomas Markle Sr also faces a Philippine investigation after his son handed police a separate hoard of alleged abuse images.
Thomas Markle Sr., 82, has been photographed in a wheelchair at a Florida nursing home following his transfer from a rehabilitation centre — the first images of him since child pornography was found in a rented storage unit he had abandoned near Rosarito Beach, Mexico. The FBI has announced it is now investigating the matter, cooperating with Mexican and Philippine authorities who are already examining devices seized from his former Cebu City home.
The Mexico unit contained books on paedophilia, magazines depicting child abuse, 35mm negatives of children, 50-plus videotapes and a paper plate with 'DARK WEB' and URLs scrawled on it.
Scotland Yard has referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct after admitting it failed to pass a 2019 letter alleging child sex offences by Markle to overseas law enforcement.
Prince William and Kate have been drawn into the row, with a royal source calling it 'unthinkable' the Palace was not made aware of the 2019 letter alongside Meghan.
