FBI raids the Beverly Hills mansion of a billionaire megadonor who backed Eric Swalwell's run for governor in misconduct probe

FBI agents raided the Beverly Hills mansion of billionaire Democratic donor Stephen Cloobeck on Tuesday morning, marking a dramatic escalation in the sexual misconduct investigation into former Congressman Eric Swalwell, 45. Cloobeck had prominently backed Swalwell's run for California governor and allowed him to stay at the property. The raid comes two months after agents seized Swalwell's phone, MacBook Pro and other devices at San Francisco Airport.

Swalwell, who has denied all wrongdoing and has not been charged, resigned from Congress and dropped his governor's bid earlier this year amid allegations from at least five women.

The White House recently released declassified FBI records detailing Swalwell's past ties to Christine 'Fang Fang', a suspected Chinese intelligence operative.
