Fifa is to let council members see Infantino's aborted World Cup sell-off documents, but ONLY IN PERSON to avoid leaks

Fifa has agreed to give its council members access to files on Gianni Infantino's abandoned World Cup commercialisation plan, but under tight conditions aimed at preventing leaks — members must read the documents on site and will not be permitted to take copies away. The decision comes after UEFA formally pressed for greater openness about the failed sell-off proposal.

Infantino's scheme to commercialise the World Cup fell apart earlier this year following strong resistance from member associations.

The requirement to attend in person reflects Fifa's determination to keep control of the narrative around the failed plan and head off damaging disclosures.

Critics are expected to contend that the restrictions render genuine oversight meaningless, since council members are barred from retaining copies for independent study.
