Fifteen members of a UK-wide drugs gang are sentenced after smuggling cocaine hidden inside wheels of GOUDA cheese

West Yorkshire Police have disbanded what they describe as the largest criminal network they have ever dismantled, with 15 members sentenced following a UK-wide cocaine smuggling operation. The gang concealed drugs inside wheels of gouda cheese imported from abroad, with each block found to contain two bricks of cocaine.

Ikraam Safdar was among those convicted as part of the international network.

West Yorkshire Police called it the biggest drugs investigation in the force's history.

The sentencing concludes a case that exposed how food imports were exploited to move industrial quantities of cocaine across the UK.
