Final three members of an East London gang that smuggled migrants INTO France are jailed, taking the total sentences past 84 years

An East London people-smuggling gang that hid migrants in lorries bound for France has been dismantled, with all 21 members convicted and combined jail terms topping 84 years. Ringleader Shuhal Ahmed, 44, who charged each migrant roughly £1,400 to slip past border controls, was jailed for eight-and-a-half years at Canterbury Crown Court.
Five other men were jailed for four to seven years after a three-week Canterbury trial.
'The chances of getting caught have never been higher,' warned NCA Senior Investigating Officer John Turner.
Turner says the whole network was dismantled, 'from the organisers right down to the drivers'.
