Fire destroys hotel near Everest base camp in Nepal as a snowstorm cuts off any rescue, but all guests escape

Hotel Good Luck in Dingboche — a 17-room lodge at 4,410 metres, one of the oldest in the village and a key acclimatisation stop on the Everest Base Camp trekking route — was completely gutted after a cooking gas cylinder exploded in its kitchen at around 11am local time on Friday. Owner Kul Bahadur Tamang confirmed every guest and staff member got out safely. British travel blogger Callan Bowl, trapped in the area, filmed the inferno and posted the footage on Instagram as thick smoke swallowed entire rooms.

Multiple gas cylinders stored in the kitchen made the blaze virtually impossible to fight, trekking guide Arjun Gurung said.
