Fired Disney boss Bob Chapek's 'score-settling' memoir accuses predecessor Bob Iger of stabbing him in the back

Bob Chapek, who was fired as Disney CEO in 2022, is set to publish his memoir 'Behind the Castle Walls' on September 29, reigniting his bitter feud with Bob Iger. Excerpts already published show Chapek names Iger 121 times, arguing his predecessor — who both preceded and succeeded him — engineered his downfall. The book covers Chapek's near-30-year Disney career, from marketing director to CEO during the Covid-19 pandemic crisis.

Chapek describes steering Disney's parks, theatres and cruise ships through the pandemic, only to be ousted with Iger returning from retirement to replace him.

The first excerpts, published Thursday, focused heavily on Chapek's fury at Iger, with sources describing the book as 'score-settling'.

Iger is reportedly mentioned 121 times across the memoir — an average of more than four times per year of Chapek's Disney career.
