Trina Parks, 79, who played deadly henchwoman Thumper opposite Sean Connery in 1971's 'Diamonds Are Forever', said that Sweeney has "Hollywood classic kind of style and poise" that suits the franchise. The endorsement lands as Amazon MGM's reboot nears a casting decision, with director Denis Villeneuve and casting director Nina Gold reportedly drawing up a shortlist.

Parks argued the franchise needs women who "would not be a pushover for Bond" — saying the old romantic formula belongs in the archives.

Four actors are competing to become the seventh James Bond, with Jack Lowden, Callum Turner and Josh O'Connor named as three candidates and a fourth mystery contender still unidentified.
