Anthony Barnes, one of the five Britons arrested near Dunkirk, filmed himself threatening a group of migrants waiting at a port, telling them: 'I'll fold you clean in half, geez — kick you in that river.' French prosecutors charged the group with taking part in a group formed to prepare violence and carrying illegal weapons.

Their reinforced minibus had tear gas bombs, pepper spray and a baton — all illegal under French law.

Each man was fined £2,500, ordered to pay £418 to a migrant charity, and could still face up to two years in jail over the weapons charges.

Nearly 1,000 migrants crossed the Channel in two days while the men were in custody, after a three-week pause in crossings.
