Flight attendant spots passenger, 25, texting he was going to 'hijack the aircraft', prompting a United flight's return to Vegas

The suspect had no idea anything was wrong. The pilot told air traffic control the passenger was 'compliant because he's unaware' as the crew put the cabin into lockdown on United Flight 1681. The Boeing 737 was 'grossly overweight' and looped twice to burn fuel before landing back at Harry Reid International Airport around 11:05pm on Saturday. Every passenger was taken off the plane and inspected.

The Newark-bound flight carried 150 passengers and six crew, and no injuries were reported.

Passengers were stranded overnight after the crew timed out, finally flying out at 7am Sunday.
