Florida fisherman, 71, posing with his catch was still alive when a 12-foot alligator dragged him under

Steven Hamilton died of a blunt force injury to his left leg and drowning, Orange-Osceola medical examiners ruled. Witness Beatrice Soto said he held up a freshly caught bass for a picture before the gator 'grabbed him by the leg and pulled him in'. The animal surfaced with him, then submerged him again. His body was recovered from Lake Apopka two hours later.

Lake Apopka holds more than 4,600 alligators, which hampered the recovery effort.

Trappers hauled the animal out by its mouth and shot it dead.

Brittany Clark, 31, died in a June attack, Florida's other fatal alligator mauling this year.
