Football club president is ordered to tear down 24ft 'eyesore' 'man cave' after £100k court battle with neighbour
Justin Salmon, president of Sutton Common Rovers FC, whose garden structure in Coulsdon — complete with a TV, bar and electric doorbell — was ruled by a judge to be an unlawful "entertainment area," not a pergola.
Justin Salmon swapped his 'Man Cave' sign for one reading 'Shed for Domestic Purposes', but the judge was not fooled. The Sutton Common Rovers FC president's den in Coulsdon, south London, had a TV, bar, carpets and an electric doorbell. Judge Nicholas Parfitt ruled it was 'not a pergola' but a 'garden room entertainment area'. Salmon must now strip it back to an open-sided pergola.
Neighbour Andrianna Neophytou, also his freeholder, said it left 'nothing pleasant' to see.
His lease only allowed a pergola and a simple toolshed in the garden.
The judge also ordered Neophytou's porch removed, calling it a 'trespass' on Salmon's wall.
