Forecasters shift Ohio governor's race towards Democrat Amy Acton after Vivek Ramaswamy's ad featuring her estranged mother
Donald Trump at his Greenville, North Carolina rally, where he mimicked punching hecklers and vowed to treat them "very, very rough".
Cook Political Report now rates the contest 'lean Democrat', and Decision Desk HQ gives Amy Acton a 62 per cent chance of winning. Vivek Ramaswamy's campaign is still spending $4 million to air the spot, in which Donna Arthur calls her daughter a 'liar'. Acton's fundraising has surged since. 'We haven't talked to a GOP source who thought this was a good idea,' wrote Cook's Jessica Taylor.
Acton's campaign says her stepfather sexually abused her, and her mother stayed with him.
Republican Ohio governor Mike DeWine condemned the ad; President Trump and Vice President Vance defended it.
Ramaswamy insists the ad 'had nothing to do' with childhood sexual abuse.
