Australian AFL star and former Port Adelaide forward Daniel Stewart dies suddenly aged 37 after an 'unexpected medical episode'
Daniel Stewart's gym chain, Body Fit Training, emailed members on Saturday to say its 'dearly loved owner' had died on Friday. He co-ran the Melbourne gyms with Matt Thomas, a close friend and former teammate. His wife Laura posted a photo with their sons Bernie and Lando, calling him 'a heart too big for this world'. Port Adelaide will wear black armbands at their first 2027 home game.
Stewart kicked 31 goals in 36 games as a key forward from 2010 to 2013.
Former teammate Kane Cornes called him 'a brilliant and caring teammate' and 'a true tragedy'.
Port picked him at No. 35 in the 2009 rookie draft, after spells at Labrador and North Adelaide.
