Former DUP leader Jeffrey Donaldson shows no remorse in a prison letter after his 15-year sentence for abusing two girls

Judge Paul Ramsey told Newry Crown Court that Jeffrey Donaldson, 63, had shown no 'regret, apology or shame' and had 'doubled down on his denials'. The ex-MP was convicted of 18 sex offences, including one count of rape, committed between 1985 and 2008. Automatic 50% remission means he will serve only seven-and-a-half years behind bars.

The Metropolitan Police is set to question him in prison over a Westminster sex assault claim.

Mary Lou McDonald, leader of Sinn Féin, urged the public to keep focus on the two victims.

McDonald: 'I hope they have all the love in the world.'
