Former Taunton Town football chief admits role in sending sedatives to a husband who drugged and raped his wife

Karl Lindsay, 56, a married father of five who rose from kit manager to chief executive at Taunton Town FC before stepping down last November, entered guilty pleas at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court to three offences, among them supplying sedatives to a husband who used them to drug and rape his wife repeatedly over a decade. The victim sat in the public gallery, watching intently as Lindsay entered his pleas, which covered offences between January 2015 and October 2025.
The woman's husband, who cannot be named, had previously admitted 62 offences against his wife, among them multiple counts of rape spanning more than 20 years.
Three other men — Graham Brougham, 74, Keith Fotheringham, 59, and Sean Peers, 38 — have also pleaded guilty; nine further defendants, including an ambulance paramedic once pictured with Prince Harry, go on trial Monday.
Lindsay was held on remand and will be sentenced only after the conclusion of that trial.
