Former Hamas hostage Emily Damari marries Danielle Amit in Tel Aviv, 471 days after being kidnapped

Emily Damari, a British-Israeli woman who spent 471 days as a Hamas captive in Gaza's terror tunnels, has married her partner Danielle Amit, 36, at an emotional Tel Aviv ceremony attended by fellow former hostages. Damari, 30, was shot in the hand and leg before being seized from Kibbutz Kfar Aza on 7 October 2023; her bandaged hand became a global symbol of defiance. The couple met following Damari's release in January 2025 and became engaged exactly one year on.

Damari wore a double-breasted suit by Israeli designer Oria Azran; Amit chose a lace gown.

Fellow freed hostages Romi Gonen, Doron Steinbrecher and Liri Albag were among those present.

'Seeing my daughter alive, safe, happy — would have been impossible to imagine,' mother Mandy said.
