Former police officer turned dog groomer is jailed for seven years after filming himself raping a sleeping woman

Derek McNee, 43, a former Police Scotland officer turned Paisley dog groomer, drugged victims and raped one woman repeatedly after rendering her unconscious; four videos of the attacks were discovered on his phone during an unrelated inquiry. At the High Court in Glasgow on Monday, Judge David Young KC handed down his sentence and imposed 18 months of post-release monitoring. One victim described her "misery" across two impact statements, saying she continues to be affected to this day.

McNee also admitted five years of abusive behaviour toward a second woman; after she changed her number, he contacted her nearly 30 times within a two-day period.

An "ultra-high voltage" electronic stun gun was recovered from his car; McNee was also added to the sex offenders register with no time limit.

McNee had walked free from court in 2021, having been convicted of intimidating a young woman in Glasgow's west end.
