Former Taunton Town chief admits role in sending sedatives used by a Stockport husband to drug and rape his wife

Karl Lindsay, 56, a married father of five who rose from kit manager to chief executive of Taunton Town Football Club, pleaded guilty at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court to administering substances to stupefy a woman for sexual acts and two further serious sexual offences between 2015 and 2025. As he entered his pleas, the woman he had victimised was present in the public gallery. Lindsay was remanded in custody pending sentencing, which will follow the trial of nine remaining defendants due to begin on Monday.
Three other men — Graham Brougham, 74, Keith Fotheringham, 59, and Sean Peers, 38 — have already pleaded guilty to offences against the same woman.
The woman's husband, from Stockport, admitted 62 offences including rape over more than 20 years; those facing trial on Monday include an ambulance paramedic, a former nightclub DJ, a youth football coach and a cab driver.
In a separate Swindon case, Joanne Young's ex-husband Philip Young advertised her on Craigslist while she lay blindfolded and bound; four men deny assaulting her, with one claiming he thought it was 'their kink'.
