Former Taunton Town football chief admits his part in sending sedatives to a husband who drugged and raped his wife

Karl Lindsay, 56, a married father of five who worked his way up from kit manager to chief executive of Taunton Town Football Club, pleaded guilty at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court on Friday to sending sedatives to a husband and to further serious sexual offences against the man's wife, committed between 2015 and 2025. The victim sat in the public gallery and watched Lindsay enter his guilty pleas before he was remanded in custody. Nine other men are due to go on trial from Monday, including an ambulance paramedic, a children's football coach and a taxi driver.
Lindsay's guilty pleas follow admissions by three other men: Graham Brougham, 74, Sean Peers, 38, and Keith Fotheringham, 59.
The victim's husband, who cannot be named, has already admitted 62 offences against her — including multiple rapes — spanning more than 20 years.
Meanwhile, a separate Winchester trial heard four men claim they answered online ads placed by ex-Tory councillor Philip Young, 50, and had no idea his wife Joanne Young had been drugged.
