Armed bystander chases teen gunman into Oregon school and shoots him dead after THREE children and teacher are killed

A 16-year-old opened fire at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon, using a pump-action shotgun his mother had bought, blasting through locked doors and killing three children — aged five, eight and 11 — along with one teacher. A community member, identified in dispatch audio as a father at the school, chased the shooter inside and killed him within minutes. Oregon Governor Tina Kotek praised the unnamed man, saying his actions prevented 'further loss of life'.

Police say the teen first fired at a red Toyota Tacoma in the car park, then threw his gun over the fence and climbed after it before shooting his way back through the school doors.

Among the wounded, a seven-year-old pupil and a 54-year-old teacher were hospitalised in a critical condition; police arrived on scene in three minutes but the gunman was already down.

Superintendent Steven Cook said the district was 'stunned and heartbroken', while Rep. Janelle Bynum said she felt the attack 'deep, deep, deep in my soul'.
