Four flight attendants were injured when a United flight from Hawaii to Los Angeles plunged in severe turbulence

Passenger Coral Pena said there was 'a huge bang and then we started falling' aboard United Flight 1157 on Wednesday night. The Boeing 777-200, carrying 190 passengers and 10 crew, reportedly dropped more than 3,000 feet. One attendant was taken to hospital, while two others, aged 58 and 62, suffered neck and back injuries. No passengers were hurt.

Passenger Marly Wadlington said: 'Everyone was yelling. We were all super scared.'

A witness saw one injured attendant bleeding from the head and leg.

The pilot told air traffic control the drop 'felt like wake turbulence'.
