Four flight attendants are injured as a United jet from Hawaii plunges over 3,000 feet in severe US turbulence
Passenger Coral Pena said there was 'a huge bang and then we started falling' aboard United Flight 1157 from Honolulu to Los Angeles on Wednesday night. One witness saw an injured crew member bleeding from the head and leg. Two attendants, aged 58 and 62, suffered neck and back injuries, and one was taken to hospital. None of the 190 passengers were hurt.
The pilot told air traffic control it felt like wake turbulence lasting 'a couple of seconds'.
Marly Wadlington was watching a movie when the jet dropped and 'everyone was yelling'.
The Boeing 777-200 then sat on the LAX tarmac for half an hour waiting for a gate.
