Fox News's Brit Hume says Trump's midterm blitz isn't 'making any difference' as his approval sinks to a record low

Brit Hume singled out President Donald Trump's 'Talafreako' jibe at Texas Democrat James Talarico, calling him 'mild-mannered' and 'pleasant'. A Reuters/Ipsos poll has Trump on just 31%, the lowest of either term. Democrats lead the generic ballot 47% to 35%, the widest margin this cycle. Americans vote on 3 November, and losing either chamber would hobble Trump's agenda.

Trump is underwater in 41 states and every major battleground, according to a Civiqs tracker.

Some 68% disapprove of his handling of the economy, including 37% of Republicans.

Hume also cited the 'fiasco' over Katie Zacharia's short stint as press secretary.
