France extends riot curfews in Paris and Lyon as PM vows a 'massive' police deployment for Saturday's protests

Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez has admitted authorities underestimated the unrest and lost control of some cities on Saturday. More than 2,500 people were arrested, and about 1,000 officers were injured. Over 3,000 shops were looted, and Limoges's historic town hall was burned. Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu said the curfews 'helped to restore calm', and Paris police vowed to keep them 'for as long as it proves necessary'.

Police guarded Brigitte Macron's family macaron shop in Amiens while other businesses burned.

Alliance Police Union fumed: 'Mr. Macron, the Republic is not your private property.'

President Trump told a Kansas rally: 'Just look at what's happening in France.'
