France is to deploy the military as curfews bring calm to Paris after the worst rioting in years
Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu said 'targeted curfews' had calmed the night, days after Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez admitted police 'lost control'. More than 2,500 people were arrested in weekend riots that saw town halls torched in Limoges and Marseille. In Marseille alone, over 500 businesses were damaged and 118 officers injured. Prefects will decide on fresh curfews tonight.
Around 5,000 riot police will ring Paris for tonight's PSG v Barcelona clash.
Emmanuel Macron blamed 'agitators from far-Left fringe groups, joined by numerous criminals'.
The BBC was mocked for calling the riots 'mostly peaceful' over footage of Paris ablaze.
