France recalls 7 million condoms across Europe over tearing risk and urges recent users to take STI and pregnancy tests

Eight users reported tears involving the recalled batches after an initial August withdrawal of around 300,000 condoms flagged the same manufacturing fault.

France's consumer protection watchdog has imposed a minimum one-year ban on sales and imports of 15 condom varieties from a Malaysian manufacturer after investigators found that an ultra-thin production process was creating dangerous inconsistencies in latex thickness and quality. The affected brands are My Lubie, Einhorn, Adloran, R&S Consumer Goods, Amor, Primeros and You Me. Authorities have cautioned that faulty stock may still be on retailers' shelves or in consumers' possession across Europe.

The crisis follows an initial August recall of around 260,000 to 300,000 condoms in France for the same manufacturing fault.

Since those first withdrawals began, eight users have come forward to report tears involving the recalled batches.

France sold just over 115 million condoms in 2024, underlining the scale of the market now disrupted by the year-long ban.
