A notebook of handwritten Freddie Mercury lyrics fetched £277,000 at Propstore's Music Live Auction, making it the highest-selling lot on day one. The lines came from recording sessions for Mercury's 1985 debut solo album 'Mr. Bad Guy' and formed part of the Reinhold Mack Collection, an archive documenting producer Mack's close friendship and creative partnership with the Queen frontman. The result beat out a haul of equally jaw-dropping rock memorabilia from some of music's biggest names.
Noel Gallagher's autographed Takamine FP460SC guitar — played at Oasis's 1996 MTV Unplugged — set a world record for an Oasis acoustic guitar at £226,800.
Michael Jackson's black-and-gold military jacket, given personally to Norwegian dancer Omer Bhatti, also sold for £226,800.
John Lennon's tinted prescription glasses, worn during his 18-month 'lost weekend' separation from Yoko Ono, sold for £126,000.
