Gunman fires at random from his car near Paris, killing one and wounding four including a girl, 12

Anti-terror prosecutors are investigating a murder linked to a terrorist enterprise, carried out because of the victims' perceived race, ethnicity or religion. The suspect was arrested in Coignières after opening fire from a car with an automatic weapon across Trappes and La Verrière. Trappes mayor Ali Rabeh said the victim was of African origin. Locations struck included a playground and a health centre.

Ali Rabeh said 'it is a miracle that there were not more victims'.

Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez said 'it looks like a murderous rampage'.

President Emmanuel Macron thanked police for taking the suspect into custody so quickly.
