British woman, 31, is stabbed to death at Rosenheim train station in Germany as police arrest man at the scene
Rosenheim station, where the attack occurred, is currently busy with visitors to the town's annual Autumn Festival, which draws more than a million people each year.
A British woman aged 31 died in hospital from severe stab wounds after being attacked at Rosenheim railway station in Bavaria, southern Germany, shortly after midnight on Sunday. Officers detained a 27-year-old German man from the Fürstenfeldbruck district at the scene. Bavarian authorities have opened a murder investigation, and the suspect is due to appear before magistrates later on Sunday.
The attack took place at around 12.50am local time at the station, a major hub for travellers heading to Vienna, Salzburg and Innsbruck.
Rosenheim is currently hosting its annual Herbstfest, a folk festival drawing over a million visitors and often compared to Munich's Oktoberfest.
Police have appealed for witnesses who observed 'an argument or physical altercation' at the station between late Saturday night and early Sunday morning.
