Emma Marie Laurent, a French vlogger with 43,000 followers who documented van-life adventures across Europe, Africa and the Caribbean, died alongside Swiss national Noë Lina Luscher, 20, and 19-year-old Nicaraguan hotel worker Karen Nahomi López Montano. The driver, Martin Gerardo García Girón, survived by stepping out to check the water's depth before the vehicle attempted the crossing. Laurent had posted a reflection on beauty and travel just a week before her death.
