Gangland plotter ordered to pay £9,115 to girl, nine, shot in the head while eating ice cream

Javon Riley, the gangland plotter jailed for a minimum of 34 years over the Dalston restaurant shooting, has been ordered to pay £9,115 to the nine-year-old girl left with life-changing injuries after a bullet struck her in the head as she ate ice cream with her family. The confiscation order, handed down at the Old Bailey on Monday, was a first of its kind for the Metropolitan Police, with officers proving the cash came from Riley's role in serious and organised crime.
Officers recovered thousands of pounds in cash during a search of Riley's home address.
Riley scouted from a bar opposite beforehand, then took the gunman away and disposed of the firearm.
'No amount of money can undo the devastating impact,' admitted Detective Inspector Ben Dalloway, who led the investigation.
