Gangs steal £1m of luxury watches in London's West End every month, court hears as Mayfair robbers are jailed

Romanian fashion entrepreneur Catalin Botezatu, who has five stents following cancer surgery, said he 'feared for his life' when three men attacked him outside Amazonico in Berkeley Square, cutting his £137,000 diamond-encrusted Richard Mille watch from his wrist at around midnight on 28 January. Younes Djoudi, 34, was sentenced to five years and nine months at Southwark Crown Court. Abdel El Habchi, 30, received five years and six months, and Ali Eldahouzze, 22, three and a half years.
Scotland Yard logged 97 watch robberies in the first half of the year, one in five at knifepoint.
Judge Dafna Spiro called such robberies 'a shame and a blight on our city'.
Botezatu has been deterred from ever returning to London, the judge said.
