Gary Lineker nets £1m dividend after Goalhanger podcast empire doubles profits to reach £10m

Goalhanger Podcasts, the company behind 'The Rest Is Football' and 'The Rest Is History', more than doubled its pre-tax profit to £9.8m in 2025 as revenue surged to £37.8m. Gary Lineker, one of its largest shareholders, collected more than £1m of a £5m dividend payout shared among investors. Paid subscribers more than doubled to 243,000, with 667 million plays recorded across 13 shows on audio and video platforms.

Goalhanger's dividend payout leapt from just £36,000 in 2024 to more than £5m last year.

A £14m Netflix deal to stream a daily 'Rest Is Football' during this summer's World Cup has been extended to 2028.

'The Rest Is Football', hosted by Lineker with Alan Shearer and Micah Richards, now tops seven million monthly streams.
