GE Aerospace is putting £30m into expanding and modernising its maintenance, repair and overhaul facility beside Prestwick Airport in South Ayrshire, with public funding bringing the overall package to £57m. Roughly 150 new jobs will be created over five years, and the facility is expected to be fully operational by the first quarter of 2028. The expansion includes construction of a new 55,000 sq ft workshop.

South Ayrshire Council leader Brian Connolly described the investment as a 'major milestone' that will 'significantly benefit' the local and national economy and cement Prestwick's status as one of the UK's foremost aerospace hubs.

GE Aerospace is also giving £75,000 to Ayrshire College for training equipment serving around 150 students and apprentices, backing efforts to build a pipeline of future aerospace talent.
