Gemma Collins broke down on Celebrity Big Brother on Sunday night, telling housemates her mother Joan, 70, died on the Wednesday before her planned Thursday wedding to fiancé Rami Hawash. Joan passed away in July after two bouts of pneumonia within six months, leaving Gemma saying her heart had "shattered into a million pieces." The TOWIE star, 45, appeared as a celebrity guest on the ITV show, opening up during an emotional garden conversation with fellow housemates.

Gemma softened the heartbreak with a joke: 'I ordered a dress off Shein — it would not have gone down well.'

Joan, who died peacefully aged 70, was rushed to hospital a month before her death — her second hospitalisation with pneumonia in the space of six months.

Rami proposed to Gemma for a third time in the Maldives in February 2024, having been in an on-and-off relationship with her for over a decade.
