German climber dies in a 1,500m fall from Nepal's Ama Dablam after his guide left him for under FIVE MINUTES

Wolfgang Waschiczek, 57, disappeared from Camp III after guide Sonam Lama briefly stepped away to return a borrowed sleeping bag. Lama had told him to stay put with his safety gear, but found him gone on returning. Waschiczek had gone onto the snowy slope without crampons. Rescuers located his body at 4,500m on Monday — roughly 1,700 metres below the point where he was last seen.

A helicopter will fly his body to Kathmandu for a post-mortem examination.
