Lancashire Police's Serious Organised Crime Unit dismantled a major international drug network in Blackpool after an eight-month covert investigation, charging 33 people who have all been remanded in custody. Officers intercepted 171kg of cocaine and 297kg of cannabis with a wholesale value of £6.6m, then executed warrants across the town throughout September and October.
The network had links to criminal organisations operating in the Middle East and Asia, feeding drugs into Lancashire and the wider UK market.
Alongside the drugs, investigators recovered more than £100,000 in cash, seven Rolex watches, gold bars, designer goods and two vehicles.
Among the weapons found were two machetes, knuckle dusters in quantity, tasers and knives.
