Police Scotland executed a search warrant at a flat on Holm Street in Glasgow city centre at around 8pm on Tuesday, seizing what officers described as a significant quantity of cocaine with an estimated street value of £1.6 million, together with a six-figure cash sum. A 29-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman faced drugs charges following their arrest, and both appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

The operation, driven by intelligence, was connected to Scotland's Serious Organised Crime Taskforce and the national strategy against serious organised crime.

Detective Chief Inspector Laura Sands said the seizure shows police are 'determined to protect the public by disrupting the trade of illegal drugs.'

Officers called on anyone with knowledge of drug crime to report it by phoning police on 101 or contacting Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
