Glasgow gangland boss Steven 'Bonzo' Daniel is remanded in custody after dawn Operation Venetic raid on his home

Steven 'Bonzo' Daniel, 46, was dragged from his Robroyston home at 6am on Wednesday when Police Scotland officers arrived and bundled him into a waiting convoy. The operation formed part of Operation Venetic, a long-running crackdown targeting organised crime networks. He appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Thursday, charged with involvement in organised crime and four offences relating to drug supply and production. With Donald Findlay KC representing him, Daniel made no plea and was held on remand, with a further hearing due within eight days.

A second man, Steven Gordon, 38, of Garthamlock, was arrested at the same time and faces charges including conspiracy to murder and possession of a firearm.

Footage released by police showed Daniel being marched from his front door and pushed into the back of a police vehicle, with a dog unit present at the scene.

Assistant Chief Constable David Ferry warned that those involved in serious organised crime 'will be brought to justice' and vowed to 'relentlessly pursue' them.
