GP quits NHS after being investigated for transphobia following concerns over gender treatment
Dr Sarah Redvers, a safeguarding GP in Sussex, says that raising concerns in July 2020 about Brighton GP Dr Sam Hall led to accusations of transphobia against her. NHS England cleared Dr Hall's care at the time. Six years on, an NHS safety report found children as young as 13 at the WellBN practice had been given puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones without proper checks. She is suing NHS Sussex ICB for constructive dismissal.
Dr Redvers says she was 'silenced' for doing her job.
Dr Hall complained to NHS Sussex's then-chief that he was being 'victimised'.
NHS Surrey and Sussex has apologised, admitting some processes 'should have been handled differently'.
