Grid bosses cling on as probe finds Neso sidelined blackout warnings to keep the Government 'happy'

Whistleblowers alleged that the National Energy System Operator concealed the true extent to which Britain had been on the brink of blackouts during last summer's heatwaves. Independent investigators concluded that staff concerns went 'largely unheard' as managers focused on keeping customers, ministers and regulators satisfied. The report identifies 'a culture of perceived non-response' in which employees gave up raising issues. Neso was set up by Ed Miliband.

Investigators said they found no evidence that staff covered up the blackout risks.

Andrew Bowie, the shadow energy secretary, said the report 'raises more questions than it answers'.
