Grieving son in Brazil dies after falling into his father's grave on his way to a friend's funeral
The man, aged around 40, sat on his father's headstone at Sao Jose Municipal Cemetery in Linhares, Espirito Santo, and it gave way beneath him. He plunged into the grave below and was pronounced dead at the scene. He had come to bury a friend killed in a traffic accident the day before. He has been identified locally as the husband of a Linhares council worker.
Other visitors heard a loud noise, rushed to help and called an ambulance.
Linhares Council is urging extra care at cemeteries ahead of All Souls' Day.
Police are investigating how the gravestone collapsed.
