Grieving son on his way to a friend's funeral dies after falling into his father's grave in Brazil
The man, aged around 40, had sat on top of his dad's gravestone when it gave way beneath him and plunged him into the hole below. The friend he had come to bury had been killed in a traffic accident only the day before. Visitors heard a loud noise and called an ambulance, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Police in Linhares, Espirito Santo, are investigating.
The tragedy struck just after 2.30pm at Sao Jose Municipal Cemetery in Linhares.
He has been identified locally as the husband of a Linhares council worker.
Linhares Council urged extra care at cemeteries ahead of the All Souls' Day holiday.
