'Grieving woman hailed as 'soulmate' and 'hero' by husband after she drowned trying to save their two sons in the Bahamas'
Leanne Gregory, 36, from Stapleford in Nottinghamshire, entered the water after her sons were pulled away by a strong current off the southern tip of Bimini on Tuesday. Bystanders managed to pull both boys to safety, but she was found face down in the water. Her husband Nathan Gregory desperately attempted to resuscitate her before she was pronounced dead at a clinic. The pair had been inseparable for over two decades, having met at school.
Witness Katie Rescinit said: 'She's a hero. It was truly terrible and nobody's fault.'
Water taxi captain Linty Stuart said a wave of at least seven feet struck his boat during the rescue.
Bimini's waters have claimed at least four lives over the past two years.
