Grim turn in search for missing SNL writer's sister

From the Newshound archive · first published 10 October 2026.

Los Angeles homicide detectives searched an Airbnb property in Joshua Tree on Friday, nearly a year after SNL writer Jimmy Fowlie's sister Christina Downer, 38, vanished from the Koreatown neighbourhood of Los Angeles in late November 2025. Fowlie wrote in April that the LAPD had told his family Christina was dead and the case had moved from missing person to homicide, a claim the LAPD publicly disputed. Police say the investigation remains ongoing.

Fowlie alleged in April that someone had seized control of Christina's phone and social media accounts to solicit money and hide her disappearance.

Christina's last public post on December 14, 2025 read 'Living at peace' with links to her Cash App and Venmo — friends said they had not heard from her for weeks before it.

Her brother wrote that the family's prayers had shifted from finding her alive to seeking 'the truth to be revealed and for those responsible to be held accountable.'
