Robin Holmes, a 70-year-old from Patrick Street, Grimsby, has been jailed for eight years after sending sexual messages and an indecent image on Snapchat to what he believed was a 12-year-old boy, just months after walking free from prison in December 2025. The 'boy' was a police decoy profile, flagged to Humberside Police's online investigation team in April 2026 by the Yorkshire and Humber Regional Organised Crime Unit.

'Holmes is a sickening individual,' said Detective Constable Amy Gee, who led the investigation.

Charges included causing a child to watch a sexual act and possessing indecent images of children.

Gee hopes the sentence warns would-be offenders it is 'never acceptable to prey on the vulnerable'.
