Gunman fires shots at Edinburgh pub during wake for gang war suspect, leaving one person injured in 'targeted' attack

Mourners at the Robin's Nest on Gilmerton Road had gathered to mark the death of Paul MacAulay, 40, killed in a motorbike crash weeks earlier while fleeing police. MacAulay was described as the 'right hand man' of jailed Edinburgh cocaine baron Mark Richardson. Shots were fired at around 9.15pm on Friday, and no one has been traced. Det Insp Dougal Begg called the attack 'extremely reckless'.

MacAulay was among 82 people arrested in Police Scotland's Operation Portaledge gang war crackdown.

One witness said people were 'running for their lives' as the shots rang out.

An underworld source called it 'a serious escalation' and said it was 'a miracle nobody was killed'.
