Gunman fires shots at an Edinburgh pub during the wake for a gang war suspect, leaving one person injured

Mourners had gathered at the Robin's Nest on Gilmerton Road for Paul MacAulay, 40, who died in a motorbike crash weeks ago while fleeing police. The shots were fired at about 9.15pm on Friday, and one person was treated at the scene. Police Scotland say the attack was 'targeted', but no-one has been traced. A source described it as 'a serious escalation' and said 'it is a miracle nobody was killed'.

MacAulay was described as gang boss Mark Richardson's 'right hand man' and was arrested in Operation Portaledge.

Detective Inspector Dougal Begg called the shooting 'extremely reckless' and appealed for dashcam footage.

One witness said: 'People were running for their lives.'
