Gunman opens fire on Edinburgh pub during a wake for a gang war suspect, leaving one person injured

Mourners gathered at the Robin's Nest on Gilmerton Road to pay their respects to Paul MacAulay, 40, killed in a motorbike crash weeks earlier while fleeing police. MacAulay had reportedly served as the 'right hand man' of imprisoned gang boss Mark Richardson. The gunman opened fire at around 9.15pm on Friday, causing people to flee in panic, and has not been apprehended. Police Scotland is treating the attack as targeted.

MacAulay was among 82 people arrested in Operation Portaledge, the police gang war crackdown.

Rival crew Tamo Junto had reportedly pledged to target every senior figure in Richardson's organisation.

One source called it 'a serious escalation': 'It is a miracle nobody was killed.'
